Obsidian, Jennifer L. Armentrout

‘ the day my internet was hooked up was better than a hot guy checking out my butt and ask for my phone number’ Jennifer L. Armentrout, Obsidian

I never thought reading a book about aliens would be for me but Jennifer L. Armentrout has made me fall head over heals with her portrayal of extraterrestrial beings. Through previous writings of this author I new to expect and enjoyable thrilling read. She has a great sense of humour which is shown through the main character Katy, who I can relate to her book obsession very much.

The book is told through the single point of view of Katy Swartz who has recently moved to town and befriends her neighbour Dee Black and unknowingly enters a world she did not believe possible. If Jennifer L. Armentrout succeeds most at anything it is creating strong female lead characters that do not wait to be saved but instead instead find their inner strength in order to protect everyone else. She can stand on her own even when having to deal with a very obnoxious, egotistical, over protective male character Daemon Black who would do anything to protect his family. Daemon perfectly described by Katy as ‘ A beautiful face, Beautiful body and Horrible attitude. it was the holy trinity of hot boys’ , the boy next door which in like most YA books is hiding something. What Katy doesn’t realise that by uncovering the secrets of her neighbours family she unwillingly not only puts them endanger but also herself. At the end of the book Katy has changed in many more ways then one.

There are many reasons why I enjoy this book  and the rest of the Lux series but mostly because of its originality with no love triangle in sight. By the end of the book I wish Katy is my best friend and if Jennifer l. Armentrout could magically conjure up my own version of daemon.  The book and the series has its own dramatic twists some that I couldn’t of predicted which makes it such a thrilling read as I can not compare it to any other books I have read. It is a stand out series which made me fall in love with reading and the adventures I could go on just through ink on a page.

A stand out series which I would recommend to anyone I meet in this world and others.

If anyone has read this book or recommends any other exciting reads drop me a comment.
